Reflexology
What is Reflexology?
Origionally known as reflex zone therapy, Reflexology is a holistic method which involves pressure of the reflex points found on the hands, feet and face.
Reflexology is a science based on the premise that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all glands, organs, parts and systems of the body. The physical act of applying pressure using the thumb, finger and hand techniques to these reflex areas results in the reduction of stress which promotes physiological changes in the body.
We have over 7000 nerve endings on the soles of the feet. This makes them quite sensitive and responsive to the sensory imput of reflexology. Reflexology improves nerve and blood supply, and helps nature to normalize.
Reflexology teaches that a vital energy, or Life Force, circulates between the organs of the body, permeating every living cell and tissue. If the energy becomes blocked, than that part of the body relating to the blockage is affected. Energy blocks in the body are reflected on the hands and feet in one or more of the zones that are located there. Using specific pressure techniques, they can be detected by the experience of pain and crystalline deposits. The reflexologist is taught specific pressure techniques which are designed to dissipate the energy blocks, and break down the crystalline structures. Throught the stimulation of the circulatory and lympathic systems, and by encouraging the release of toxins, reflexology promotes the bodies own healing abilities.
Reflexoloy is a unique modality in the health field. It's purpose is not to treat or diagnose for any specific medical disorder, but to promote better health and well-being in the same way as an exercise or nutritional program. It is a unique and holistic way to support your good health and help you to feel better.
Some Benefits of Reflexology include:
Deep relaxation
Improved circulation
Increased oxygen and nutrient supply
Increased sense of well being
Relief from symptoms of PMS
Reduced stress
Relief of menopause symptoms
Increased energy flow
Helping the body to detoxify
Increased circulation carries more oxygen and nutrients to all parts of the body, restoring internal balance and enhancing the body's ability to heal itself.
We do not treat symptoms with reflexology, but intergrate the "whole" Body, Mind, and Spirit.
