Emotional Freedom Technique [ EFT ]
Emotional Freedom Technique, also known as meridian tapping, is used to optimize one's emotional and physical health by providing relief from stress, trauma, fears, addictive cravings and everyday ailments. It has grown into a revolutionary healing aid used by traditional therapists, medical professionals and alternative healers on everything from weight loss to aiding cancer patients.
EFT is sometimes called " acupuncture without the needles " and is based on using the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture over the past five thousand years to treat physical and emotional ailments. The discovery behind this relief is that unresolved issues are caused by disruptions in the body's " subtle energies " and these disruptions inhibit our natural ability to heal; leaving us open to nagging fears, chronic pain and terminal illness. Instead of needles, the client uses a program of simple tapping with the fingertips to stimulate the input of kinetic energy onto specific meridians on the head and chest, while focusing on the issue they wish to resolve. This technique generates results by balancing the body's energy meridians while the client " tunes in " to their problem in a gentle conversational manner. In this way an important link is established between mind and body. History and Developement
This acupressure-based healing modality was pioneered by psychologist Roger Callahan, and dramatically simplified and improved by Stanford engineer Gary Craig. Craig basically developed EFT and made the work elegant and simple for everyone to use in overcoming their emotional and physical blocks to success. As Gary neatly summarized in an article on his web site, all scientists agree that the body is an "energy configuration" made up of positive and negative electrical charges in the form of atoms, the basic "building blocks of all matter". In his words, "Einstien discovered decades ago that physical matter [including the human body] is made of energy. Thus, even though the human body may appear to be solid, its foundation is energetic at its core. This simple fact is one of the most universally agreed upon findings in the scientific world, but to date, it has not been well integrated into western healing procedures." To Craig, the results achieved with EFT are logical and to be expected. If we view the human body as an energy configuration rather then seperate organs, parts and equations of chemicals, we will understand why and how EFT works.
Based on the premise that unresolved emotions can compromise our potential for happiness, EFT began as an effective remedy for phobias, addictions and war trauma. War vets were finally able to sleep at night, smokers could choose fresh air, and paralyzing phobias lost their grip---all without medication.
Practitioners worldwide have marveled at it's simplicity, elegance, and rapid means of healing. It has been clinically effective in thousands of cases for physical symptoms, trauma, stress, anxiety, fears, depression, addictive cravings, children's issues and more.
Unique Features of EFT
There are several features that set EFT apart from other such healing procedures. For example, It employs one basic tapping routine that is effective for both physical and emotional issues. That's why a diverse group of people
can achieve high percentage results even though each member may be addressing a different issue. Further, healthy belief changes often occur as the energy meridians come into balance and EFT's results are most often long term. Properly done, the process most often does not need to be repeated. Nunerous people who received very successful EFT sessions more then 10 years ago when EFT was first developed, have never had a relapse and this is particularly so with emotional issues.
